our story

Hayley Ratcliffe is the Funeral Director, founder and inspirational heart of Hayley’s Funerals, an Independent Lady’s Funeral Home. Situated in the heart of St. Austell, the business will serve the local town and community and wider surrounding areas within Cornwall. Being independently owned, the drive, passion and dedication Hayley has poured into establishing her business is evident. Having lived in St. Austell all her life, Hayley attended both Mount Charles and Poltair Secondary School. Her early ambition was always to work within the funeral profession in the hopes of one day becoming a Funeral Director, and in 1996 she started her journey by carrying out work experience at W.J Beswethericks in Truro. Hayley met her future husband in the same year and married in 1999. They welcomed 2 sons thereafter and have both recently celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary. After bringing up her family, Hayley decided to pursue the career which had always been in her heart and from 2016 she was given the opportunity of working with two local Funeral Directors. Hayley has gained extensive experience over the last eight years supporting and assisting hundreds of families in and around the St. Austell area. Hayley is extremely proud and honoured to have finally achieved her dream of opening her own Funeral Home, on the same road her dear grandparents once lived.

Hayley has undertaken training in all aspects of the funeral business, including completion of SAIF training for Funeral staff, obtaining certificates in Health & Safety and Foundation Funeral Practitioner 2017, Funeral Operative 2018 and Funeral Administrator 2018. This led to Hayley achieving her ‘Certificate in Funeral Practice’, allowing her the use of the post nominals Cert. FP. This training, alongside her employment working in funeral homes provided Hayley with the advanced skills, knowledge and understanding required to support bereaved families and arrange and manage funerals. Hayley has always committed to offering the highest level of compassion and respect, earning her the trust, appreciation and recognition from the local community. Under her guidance, Hayley will lead a close knit team, committed to delivering her vision and service ethics, treating all our families as if they were our own.
At Hayley’s Funerals, we understand the profound impact of losing a loved one, and are dedicated to offering a personal, respectful and caring service. We warmly welcome families to our St. Austell funeral home to discuss our services in person, to provide a fitting and tailored farewell for your loved one. We will pay attention to detail to ensure each funeral service will be uniquely crafted to honour and reflect their life and your personal wishes. We will listen, guide and support you through every step of the process.

“ I am here day or night to offer you and your loved ones the loving care and support needed at such a difficult time “.
Much Love, Hayley x
